How to Convert a Blu-ray Disc to AVCHD

Print this articleBlu-ray discs are encoded in high-definition AVCHD streaming formats -- most commonly M2TS or AVC/H.264 file types. Extracting or converting a Blu-ray video to an AVCHD format may require downloading Blu-ray conversion software from the Internet. Among dozens of options to choose from, you may want to try free trial programs such as WinX Blu-ray Decrypter or Holeesoft Blu-ray Ripper. Alternatively, BDtoAVCHD is an entirely free option. Because M2TS files can be as large as 25 gigabytes to 50GB in size, make sure you have enough free space on your hard drive before ripping your Blu-ray disc.
