How to Download Movies Onto the iPad Through VLC

The VLC Streamer application for the iPad lets you download and stream movies from the movie collection on your computer directly to your iOS device. In order to use the application, you must install the VLC Streamer Helper on your computer so that your computer can be detected by your iPad. With the VLC Streamer Helper installed, however, you can download and stream any movie through VLC on your iPad.

Tap the "App Store" icon, followed by the "Search" option. Type "VLC Streamer" in the space provided and tap the "Search" button. Tap the "VLC Streamer" application in the list of search results and tap the "Install" button to install the application.

Open a Web browser on the computer and navigate to "hobbyistsoftware.com." Click the "VLC Streamer" link, followed by the "Click Here for Setup Details" link.

Click the VLC Streamer Helper download link for your operating system to download the install file. Double-click the install file and follow the onscreen instructions to install the VLC Streamer Helper.

Tap the "VLC Streamer" application icon on your iPad and tap on your computer beneath the "Visible Computers" heading.

Tap the "Add a movie" button and find the movie that you want to download and stream. Once you have the movie, tap it to open the "Streaming Quality" menu.

Adjust the video quality and audio quality settings to your liking and tap the "Watch!" button to begin downloading and streaming the video onto your iPad.
